ENT Position Available With Our Practice

Our solo practice is looking for a board-eligible or board-certified candidate to join our practice with potential for partnership after one to 3 years (if full-time and interested). Our practice is also equally open to candidates desiring part-time position (partnership will not be offered in this situation).

We are located in Northern Virginia about 35 minutes directly west of Washington DC. The practice itself is located on the hospital campus situated in the lovely tree-lined rural city of Warrenton, VA where one can even see the Appalachian mountains from our office. All city amenities are available within a short 15 minute drive but without the traffic and hassle of big-city congestion.

Interest in general otolaryngology is a must with sub-specialty interest even better (but not necessary).

Some facts about the practice that may be of interest:

• Full-service ENT office with ancillary services including audiology (OAE, ABR, audio), hearing aid dispensing/repair, vestibular testing (VNG, ENG, ECoG, VEMP), allergy testing (immunoCAP only), and immunotherapy (sublingual immunotherapy and allergy shots)
• Near-monopoly services in terms of ENT and allergy in the region
• There is currently only 1 otolaryngologist (myself) in the entire Fauquier county. There is no ENT in Culpeper county to the south. Only 1 ENT in Warren county to the west.
• Office records, Hospital records, and Radiology fully on electronic medical records & PACS accessible from home via internet. Office is on NextGen EMR. Hospital is on MediTech. Being a very good typist would be essential to working well and efficiently on the office's EMR system.
• Only one office and no satellite offices to cover
• Only one hospital to cover when on-call (hospital is not a trauma center)
• In-office phlebotomy services. (This service is temporarily on hold since COVID.)
• BrainLAB image guidance available.
• DaVinci Robotic System available.
• Two ultrasound machines available in the office.
• One Olympus Chip-On-Tip strobe system, one Vision Sciences Chip-On-Tip system and 3 video towers for endoscopic exams/procedures available in the office. The Visions Sciences system has both a laryngoscope and a TNE scope.
• Office has a fully equipped small procedure room with cautery system, operating room microscope, and video tower for endo procedures. Office also has 5 exam rooms.
• Aggressive social media participation
• Semi-rural, small-town environment (low cost of living) but close to metro centers (40 minutes from Washington DC without traffic).
• High private insurance payer mix
• Family health insurance and 401K pension benefits are offered
• NO non-compete clause will be included in any contract.
• Miscellaneous stuff... What is a typical clinic day for me? I see about 15 new and 25 established patients per clinic day. I have 2 half-days of surgery each week. Fridays, I work only in the morning and leave the afternoon free to do any urgent surgical cases, schedule meetings, etc. The office building itself is owned by the hospital which I lease from them. It is a VERY old building and I suppose it can use a facelift, but I've been saying that for years and have yet to do anything. The practice on paper is legally owned by the local orthopedic group and I technically am employed by them... but in practice, I run the practice as if I'm still in solo practice. They handle all the administrative tasks such as payroll, billing, insurance administration, retirement administration, etc. The "merger" with them was necessary in order to obtain better reimbursement from insurance as well as to eliminate administrative headaches of running a practice. They provide monthly financial reports so I can keep an eye on my cash flow. The ortho group takes a 10% cut of my collections, but the increase in insurance reimbursement more than compensated for this administrative fee. The ortho group also "owns" nephrology, urology, and internal medicine groups.
