Slide #9 out of 12 2 stitches are placed into the common wall dividing the diverticulum from the esophagus. These stitches hold the common wall in place when the stapler is positioned.

Slide #8 There we go... The old food has been removed from the diverticulum. We are now ready to begin the actual procedure.

Slide #7 This image is obtained after placing a scope through your mouth down to where the diverticulum is. The bottom pouch is the diverticulum. It has some old food trapped in it. The smaller pouch above is actually the esophagus going to the stomach. Let's get rid of that nasty food stuck there.
